Our Heritage Hints
It feels a little like Noah building an ark in the middle of the desert. “Go build a homestead bakery and woodworking shop in the middle of the country.”
Or maybe it’s a little like Field of Dreams—“If you build it, they will come.”
Or perhaps it’s like building an airplane while it’s already in flight.
Each picture requires faith. And faith is exactly what we are walking in today.
But let me back up…
Hello! We are the Benton family, founders of Gathering Branch Homestead, LLC! That's right! We are officially a business!
Gathering Branch Homestead is a family-owned, kid-operated business with a heart to create handcrafted goods for the glory of God. Every loaf of bread, jar of honey, woodworking project, and handmade gift is an opportunity to glorify Him while building a lasting family heritage.
Enjoy our story of the Humble Beginnings of Homestead, Heritage, and Heart!
A backwoods, country boy grows up and eventually finds himself living and working in the suburbs with his wife and four children. Yet deep inside, he longs to return to the country. After years of hard work, setbacks, prayers, and perseverance, the family finally moves to the countryside to escape the rush of city life. Or so they thought. Before long, they discover that the city is following them. So what happens when their peaceful dream begins to change? Where do they turn? What do they build? Most importantly…what does God have planned?
Overcoming impossible odds while building a Christ-centered family heritage.
You’ll have to follow along each week as the story continues.
In the meantime, we invite you to explore our Homestead Handcrafted Products and visit our Heritage Hideaway below.

The Heritage Hideaway
Each week we’ll share practical encouragement from one of our eight Heritage Branches: Homesteading Homemaking Handicraft Health Habits Homeschooling Heritage Heart This Week’s Heritage Hint Heart Before we build businesses… Before we build homes… Before we build a legacy… We must remain connected to the One who gives life to it all. John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Our Prayer
Our prayer is that Gathering Branch Homestead would never simply be a business, but a ministry that points others to Christ. May everything we make, every conversation we have, and every opportunity God gives us bear fruit for His glory.
